Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Events is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and execution of all association events. This role involves delivering high-quality, engaging, and impactful events that align with the association's objectives and enhance member engagement. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, organizational, and creative skills to drive the success of diverse events, from conferences and workshops to member forums and special events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Event Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive events strategy aligned with the association's goals, ensuring events drive member engagement, support business objectives, revenue goals, and enhance the association's reputation.
  • Planning and Execution: Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of events, including budgeting, venue selection, vendor management, marketing, logistics, and onsite management.
  • Sponsor Engagement: Formulate sponsorship program to support/fund event, oversee sponsorship detail production, set sponsor levels, benefits, packaging, and achieve appropriate funding of event.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, external partners, sponsors, and vendors to ensure seamless execution and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Introduce innovative event concepts, formats, and technologies to enhance attendee experience and keep events fresh and relevant.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with events, ensuring compliance with regulations, safety standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Develop metrics to measure event success, analyze post-event feedback, and prepare comprehensive reports to assess effectiveness and inform future strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or related field is a plus.
  • CMP is a helpful but not required.
  • Proven experience in event management, with a track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events, preferably in an association or nonprofit environment.
  • Exceptional project management abilities, including budgeting, negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools for registration, marketing, and evaluation.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
